Top athletes to join protest over school sports

Summary:

The tuition fees are not only going up but there are also going to be cuts for school sport because the sports partners of the schools do not deliver enough competitive sport in schools. Michael Gove’s decision to stop the £162m-a-year funding for 450 school sports partnerships is probably going to damage young people’s health and increase childhood obesity. This will not only affect the young people today but also future generations who will miss out on the opportunities. The shock of the decision will not only come from the children but also from the elite athletes who will join the peaceful demonstrations against this decision. There will be a rethink about the decision with the following departments; Department for Education, Department of Culture, Media and Sport, and the Department of Health. They will try to find a solution for the future cuts. Critics accuse them of ignoring evidence of how the partnerships work has led to a big increase in pupils’ involvement in PE and competitive sport at schools and in matches between them. Currently there is at least £70m-£75m needed to continue the most basis support service across England, and more if pupils are have to regular sport and be able to choose from a range of activities.

Opinion:

I agree with the people who are going to demonstrate against these cutbacks. Just like the tuition fees increase I do not think that increasing or cutting back of education is correct or will prove helpful in the future. Instead of focusing on building airplanes or bombs for useless missions in Afghanistan just because the US says so, they need to focus on the future in their own country. With the cutbacks and increases they are only going to hold back the children and their capabilities, which will lead to a bad educational system. Eventually they will need to invest in education because they are messing it up now.
